Are Recurring Small Lumps In Groin Area Signs Of Herpes?

default
Posted on Mon, 14 Mar 2016
Question: I have a recurring small rising or lump of sorts in my groin area. It comes once a month. It never blisters or anything like that. It remains under my skin for a few days. Feels like a boil almost but then disappears like clock work. Could this be herpes?

Brief Answer:
yes this is concerning for Herpes.

Detailed Answer:
Welcome to HCM:

Please note that the cyclic nature and reoccurrence at the same place makes this behave like herpes.

No need to hurry but you may want to have your blood checked for herpes 1 & 2, and always I tell my patients that this is the time to also have an STD screening.

I hope this helps,
Thanks

Ok. I was hoping you would say that it was t since it has recurred every month for the last year. Never missing a month. And happens around the same time. From what I read the flare ups don't happen that often in herpes. It's not even a bump. It's a rising under the skin. I've had boils under my arms all my life but those come and go every couple of years.

No need to hurry?

Brief Answer:
Flare ups are brought on by stess, weather, immune issues, disease etc

Detailed Answer:
Please note that there are people with herpes who have never and will never get a flare up, others will have subtle signs and others will have events that take them to the ER.

Please note that the rule of thumb is, if you even think about the probability of having herpes, you need to have that checked including other STD's, then you have closed that avenue.

No need to hurry to the doctors, as you have been having this for a while, but your next appointment should have a screening done for sure.

Last question and I won't take up any more of your time. Is there medication that can be taken that prevents those with this disease from transmitting it to others?

Thanks. This is the most horrible day of my life. Never saw this coming.

Brief Answer:
Valtrex has been used. It reduces not eleiminates transmitability.

Detailed Answer:
Please note that you are not taking up my time, I am here to cater to these very questions that you have.

Note that you should not feel down on yourself, that this could very well be something else, take the testing and I pray for you that we are both wrong about this.

However, I cannot underscore how important it is to eliminate the easily testable idea that this is an STD and also have the screening for other STD's. Also at the same time , to know that you can transmit this even when one does not have an outbreak.
Valtrex reduces the chance of transmission to others and outbreaks.
