Question : My 10 daughter has suddenly developed what looks like pimples, only they're not pimples since they appeared over night. They are red, some have "white heads" filled with fluid. These bumps appear mostly along the sides of her upper body and sporadically on her abdomen and chest. They are itchy yet painful to touch. She has no other physical symptoms and the last time she had received any immunizations, she was 6. I am wondering if this could be chicken pox... What are the other possibilities?
Brief Answer:
Chicken pox
Detailed Answer:
Hello
Thanks for the query and photograph.
Yes it is chicken pox.
Apply calamine lotion and give her an antihistamine syrup like cetrizine.
Do this for 5 days, she should be fine.
Keep her at home.
Let me know if you have any other doubts.
Thank you.

Thank you for your reply. I also have a 8 year old daughter but is showing no symptoms How likely is it that she has developed the same? How can i prevent it at this point?.
Brief Answer:
Try to isolate
Detailed Answer:
Hello , welcome back to HCM.
There are more than 80% chances that even the younger child will develop chicken pox.
The infectivity begins a week before the appearance of rash which means she would have contracted infection by now.
It would be better if you can keep both children in separate room.
Let me know if you have any other doubts.
Thank you.
