Are Small Red Itchy Patches On Chest And Neck Signs Of Pityriasis Rosea?

Question: Pityriasis rosea or pitryriasis alba?

A few months ago I went to Florida. It was super humid and my skin was bothered by it. I got this huge round patch of red dry skin on my cheek. It went away after a few weeks. With it came smaller red patches all over my chest, neck, and arms. A few of them popped up and then turned completely white after a few days. I have eczema on the inside of my elbows. It got severely worse when these patches of dry skin appeared. I've had it for almost three months. My skin is super itchy and painful all the time.

Brief Answer:
Neither pityriasis rosea nor pityriasis XXXXXXX

Detailed Answer:
Hi
Thanks for being at healthcare magic

I have gone through your complaints and reviewed the attached photographs.

This is neither pityriasis XXXXXXX nor pityriasis rosea

Both of them are asymptomatic self limiting disorders which usually don't cause much discomfort and their presentation is also different.

Looking at your pictures it seems you are having flare of eczema.

I need to ask you few questions:

Do you have personal or family history of dry skin, itching, asthma, hay fever?

Do you have history of red lesions behind the knees, inner side of wrist and other body folds?

Have you used or worn anything new?

Is their history of similar episode in the past?

I've had eczema all my life. It has NEVER been anywhere besides the crease in my arms. These areas are turning white and they are consistently round. I've only put cortisone on my arms so I know that the areas that have no pigmentation are not from the cortisone. I don't understand how this could be eczema. Especially because of the giant round patch that was on my face that was broken skin, it looked nothing like eczema. If it is all eczema can I use cortisone on my neck and chest. I'm also worried that it might be rosacea?

Brief Answer:
It is not rosacea

Detailed Answer:
Yes you can use cortisone cream on the affected areas twice daily for 7-10 days.
This will improve them.
Besides this in such cases I recommend my patients to take antihistaminic like tablet Chlorpheniramine 4 mg once or twice daily depending on the intensity of itching.
It is not rosacea because rosacea affects facial skin mainly and is characterised by flushing, dilated blood vessels, small bumps and pus filled lesions.I
