Are Sore And Swollen Lips Signs Of Herpes?
Question: Hi,how can i confirm i have herpes and can i have a married life and baby in future...am sexually inactive now..if am sexually inactive i guess no risk of hiv??is tat true...
I get sores n swollen lip once in year during summer...is dat due to heat...and have one or two fungal infected like red non itchy rashes on my back and hand...is tis really std..please clarify....

I can understand your concern for the herpes and red rashes over back and hand.
Regarding your query of herpes: It manifests as multiple small fluid filled vesicles which forms ulcers over lip or genital area. In your case you have mentioned that you get sores and swollen lip. This could be due to herpes as well as due to multiple other reasons also.
The common mode to conform the same is by undergoing a simple test of Herpes Ig M and Ig G antibody test. It gives an idea of possible infection. Other than that it could be best confirmed at the time of occurrence of sore on the lip by simple physical examination.
For the part of red non itchy rashes on back and hand: it could be simple allergic dermatitis or due to fungal infection also. There is no STD which manifest solely as red non itchy rashes. So don’t worry about the same. I suggest you to kindly send few good resolution pictures of the red non itchy rashes. For that you have a feature on the right side of page under report section. You can also send a picture of the sore of lip if available.
If at all someone have herpes then there is no direct effect of herpes in active married life as well as having baby in future. I consult so many of herpes patients who have a happy married life as well healthy babies. So relax for the same.

Thanku doc..my doc said recently its herpes labilasis and nothg to worry...gave me acyloir tablets and its gone nw..once i got bacterial infection lik near vagina i dono whether its genital sores..it din turn up again aftr takin some medicines and anti fungal powder i.e candid...i get only tis sores in summer...near vagina one pimple lik thing i found nothg else and i get this pre menstrual stage...is dat related to menstrual cycle as u feel..its jus lik a pimple...when i google abt herpes whatever symptoms i read i feel lik i got it...is tis juz my imagination?lik i hav fatigue n tiredness..in summer every1 get so...i need to prepare for my wedding so how can i avoid all these symptoms since i get sores when exposed to more sunlight.i feel all tis not herpes juz seasonal or fungal infections...pls clarify how can i have sexual intercourse aftr marriage..how to tell him ma doubts ..shall i tel him b4 our sex...if no symptoms can we have sex normally...or we both shud see docotr b4 our sex...am really worried he shouldnt get if at all i have...pls tell me do we get sores lik these due to other reasons...

The pimple like thing could be related to simple bacterial infection rather than any sexually transmitted infection. Maintain a good hygiene to avoid such kind of recurrences.
In herpes the main feature is multiple vesicles with sores to follow the same. Fatigue and tiredness are not the symptoms of herpes.
For the prevention of herpes we give daily dose of antiviral medicine. You can take guidance for the preventive dose of antivirals form your treating doctor.
You can have sexual intercourse after marriage and get a proper counseling before marriage for the same from your treating doctor.
It is not true that all herpes patients could get HIV infected or vice versa. It is only possible if intercourse is done with HIV infected person. A simple ELISA test could be done to find out the status. It is best to be done after 3 months of last unprotected intercourse.
For the part of your virginity: It is a dependent upon the presence or absence of the membrane over vaginal opening known as hymen. Just check for the same in your case.
If it is intact then it is considered to be virgin state physically.

I do not suggest self medication for any further sore. It is better to take under your doctor's supervision only.
Other than herpes sores could be formed from sunburns or by some bacterial infections or by nutritional deficiency state.
It could be possible in yourself to get the lesions because of sunburns.
Herpes labialis is a type of herpes which occurs over lip area. It is not necessarily a STD. It could occur without sexual mode of transmission. It is a type of oral herpes.
In genital herpes, it occurs at genital area around vaginal or labia.
For the part of counselling it is better to take suggestions from your treating doctor.
If you have membrane intact at vaginal opening then it indicates towards your virgin status physically.
In opinion you are complete free from HIV. It is on the basis of the fact that the test negative after 3 months of suspected intercourse is considered to be conclusive.
