Question : Hello! My friend was diagnosed with toenail fungus and her Derm prescribed terbinafine. She read the side effects and is afraid to take it, given possible liver damage and other side effects. In your experience do you find there to be troubling side effects? She also likes an occasional glass of wine, so would she have to refrain from doing so? Finally, is there a good success rate with this drug? Thank you very much!

Hello,

Toe nail fungus requires a prolonged treatment for up to 6 months.
Terbinafine is highly effective. Don't worry, with occasional intake of wine there is not going to be any major side effects.
Also terbinafine is a safe drug and is needed to be avoided only in preexisting heart conditions.
