Brief Answer:
A calcium channel blocker

Detailed Answer:
Hello, madame. Welcome to HCM and thank you for your question. I read your query.

Extremely rare cases with cough from angiotensin II receptor blockers (ARB - the "sartans") are reported. To be honest, in my experience, none so far. However, it ia not unknown as a side effect. My recommendation would be to switch it to a calcium channel blocker, such as amlodipin. But, since amlodipin can cause swelling of ankles, the relatively novel drugs of this family can be used, like lercanidipin or nitrendipin. The ankle swelling is reported much less with these drugs. Consult your cardiologist about the dosage, precautions and frequency of taking.

I hope I have been of help. I am happy to help, if you have follow-up questions. Wish you a good health.

Kind regards,
Dr. Meriton
