Liver function test should be done.
Detailed Answer:
Hi
Thank you for asking ask a doctor service.
I have gone through your query. Lamisil (terbinafine) is more effective drug in treating toe nail fungal infection. Other option you have is the ointments of terbinafine for local application. But the oral drug is more effective. Side effect usually get is alterations in liver functions, skin changes and insomnia or irritability which can be due to caffeine containing drinks or excess tea taken along with terbinafine.
So better to do a blood test for liver function (LFT) to rule out any possible liver issues caused by this. Also avoid caffeine and excess tea. If there is raised liver enzymes in LFT then better to stop oral medication and go on with topical medicines like ointments.
Let me know if anything not clear.
I am happy to help you.
Thanks.
