Are White Patches Around The Mouth Signs Of Vitiligo?
Question: Hi doctor, my name is XXXX. I noticed 2 weeks ago 2 whites patches around my mouth (left and right side). The color is not very white but it's pale and lighter than my skin color.
M using elocom cream since 2 weeks twice per day but no improvement. And I can see that the patch is spreading.
M afraid it's vitiligo, because we have it in the family. I live in XXXXXXX and dr here do not have good qualifications, but they told me its pitiriasis XXXXXXX not vitiligo.
I don't feel good about it, and seriously anxious and depressed. Please help me to find an answer.
Is it possible to send you some pictures? So u can see the situation clearly?

Sorry for my late reply. Sometimes I feel that i have mild scaling over the left patch. like There is white thing over it.
It's not always the case so I don't know if it's due to the cream m using.
I noticed that my skin is very dry, not only my face but all my body.
I will try to send u another picture so u might see it in a clearer way. Unfortunately I can't send more than one picture, the system is not taking 2.
if u zoom the picture u can see scaly skin but from a wide angle no, and even when I look at my face i canot see the dryness of the patches I can only see milky patches lighter than my skin color.

I have again reviewed the attached photographs.
These are looking like hypopigmented patches unlike the depigmented patches of vitiligo.
There is a high probability ot these being pityriasis XXXXXXX
If I was your treating doctor I would recommend you to apply tacrolimus 0.03 percent ointment on the patches at night and mometasone cream on the patches in the morning for 3 weeks.
These are prescription drugs and you need to see the doctor in person to get them.
You can continue with elocon cream for few more days to see the response.
