Question : Your 9-year-old needs to go to the ER immediately.

With pneumonia, asthma, medications not helping, and now bloody phlegm and persistent coughing, it's critical to get them evaluated right away. Don't wait.

Hi,welcome to HCM!

When the child is not improving on conventional treatment,you have to do the following.

1 get urgent appointment with the pediatrician as busy ER may miss somethings.
2 the child needs X-ray chest as you say the sputum is bloody - it shows the possibility of pneumonia and not simple asthma!
3 if you can not get pediatric appointment, pl go to ER again and mention bloody sputum.
