It depends on many factors

Detailed Answer:

Hi,

Examination of the Colon depends on many factors.

If there is a strong family history of Colorectal cancer or polyps, if there is prior radiation to the abdomen, personal history of Inflammatory bowel disease like Crohn's disease, Ulcerative colitis etc., they should undergo examination even before 45.

If the above factors are absent, then Colon exam can be done after 45 years.

There are Stool-based tests, Colonoscopy which visualizes entire Colon etc for the Diagnosis of Colonic disorders.
