Baby Burned His Foot- Had A Teladoc Visit About 5

Question: Baby burned his foot- had a teladoc visit about 5 days ago. I attached the pic from the first visit (looks shinier and has some red in wound) and the one from today (wound is pink). Baby ripped his bandaid off today and pulled off some of the healing skin%F0%9F%98%A9 But his foot still looks better. I%E2%80%99ve been using silver sulfadiazine twice a day, for five days now, covered with sterile gauze and stretchy, non-stick tape. Im wondering if his foot looks good, if I could be doing anything better, or if i shoild take him to the doc because of the babdage incident. Although I would prefer to avoid an in office visit with the pandemic

Hi....
Welcome to "Ask a Doctor"service.
I am Dr Ajeet XXXXXXX

I have gone through your query / Images and here is my opinion.

The healing of burn area is quite satisfactory.
There is no discharge, pus or swelling.
The area is healthy and pink ( indicator of good blood supply).

In my opinion, there is no need to dress the wound as it is quite small and healthy.
But if there is any risk of pressure or friction,it should be covered.

Continue to apply Silver sulphadiazine.
Aloe Vera gel and Coconut oil application can hasten up the healing.
Coconut oil has skin healing Vitamin E and fatty acids.
It is also antipruritic and itching is quite common during this stage of healing.

Child should have a high protein diet including milk, soya, legumes, meat and eggs.
Proteins play a pivotal role in collagen synthesis and wound healing.

I don't think that there is any need for you to visit hospital or any clinician.

Hope that I have answered your query.

Stay healthy and stay blessed.
Regards

Hi doctor, sorry to bother you again! so I%E2%80%99ve been using the silver sulfadiazine and coconut oil and i think the wound still looks like its healing nicely, however the skin on his other toes has begun to peel. Is this healthy/ normal? I%E2%80%99ll attach a pic. Thank you!! Also, how long should I continue use of the SSD?

Brief Answer:
Wound healing has been good and quite satisfactory

Detailed Answer:
Hi....

Skin peeling of the other toe might be a part of regular exfoliation and application of some moisturizing foot cream, petroleum jelly or baby oil should fix it.

As you have been using SSD for last 1 week and the wound has shown a good improvement, you can now discontinue using SSD.
Continue the application of coconut oil.

Regards.
