Bleeding Knuckle After Cut, Swollen. Do I Need To See A Doctor?

default
Posted on Thu, 27 Sep 2012
Question: I just cut my right index finger right on the knuckle with a paper cutter. It bled pretty heavily - I held it under water. As I bent it, blood squirted out. That happened several times. It stopped bleeding after about 5 minutes but is now really swollen Do I need to see a doctor?

Hi AAAA
Thanks for writing in.
You should immediately visit the ER. Your wound might need closure with suturing and you might also need antibiotics.

Also depending on your immunisation status you would need anti tetanus vaccine as well.

Wishing you a speedy recovery..
