Question : Blood Pressure medicine reduces covid 19 risk/effect? I have read a number of articles about this recently. Would you know what type of BP medicines are helpful and any aryicles available to the genetal public about these medicines and how they may work?-marty

I understand your concern and would explain that unfortunately there is still no cure for COVID 10 patients.

Based on the last studies on antihypertensive drugs and COVID 19 outcome, beta-blockers (atenolol, bisoprolol, etc) have shown to lead to a better outcome of the COVID 10 patients.

There is no scientific explanation of how they work.

Calcium channel blockers (amlodipine, lercanidipine) lead to a worse outcome in such patients.

ARB drugs are safe to be used in such patients too.

Other drugs that have shown good effects in COVID 19 patients are Dexamethasone, Azithromycin, low molecular weight heparin (a type of blood thinner).

As there is no specific treatment for Covid yet, there are different treatment protein in different countries.

But, most of them are based on blood thinners, antibiotics, antiviral drugs and steroids, coupled with oxygen supply when necessary.

This treatment is for hospitalized patients.
While patients with mild forms of Covid take only vitamins and acetaminophen.

You are using a combined therapeutic scheme including amlodipine (calcium channel blocker). Let me explain that besides being an effective anti-hypertensive medication, it has beneficial effects at lowering inflammatory burden/iron metabolism circulation in diabetic patients (as shown recently).

So, you should continue using the above therapeutic scheme as long as it with show effective.
