Question : I had gastritis for 18 months from early 2019 to late 2020. It healed completely for one year and now it is back. I am taking 40 mg nexium twice daily and it has helped significantly in just 2 weeks. I have read about Zinc L Carnosine and slipper elm powder. I would like to have your views on these:
1) can they be taken while taking nexium 80 ng daily.
2)Can they both be taken every day.
3)Do they help in building/strengthening stomach mucus lining.
4)Which of the two supplements has more proven record.
5)Which one will you suggest if at all.
Thanks.

Detailed Answer:
Hi,
Thanks for posting your query.
I am Dr.R.K and I am pleased to assist you.
Yes you can take them together.
Slippery elm may cause liver issues.
The supplements you have mentioned do not have proven benefits.

Since you have recurrent gastritis, I would suggest you to get tested for Helicobacter pylori infection which is the most common cause for the symptoms you have. If found to be positive, it has to be treated with triple therapy for complete relief.

Please let me know if you have any more questions.
Regards,
Dr.R.K.
