Posted on Mon, 8 Aug 2016
Question: I am 68 female in very good health 5'2" 122 lbs. i eat 3 meals a day. I just feel shaky inside. Just a general yuk too. I really feel it is my type A personality and too much on my plate that is probably the root cause. I am a widow. I guess I'm wondering if there is any type of OTC supplement that might help. I truly feel it is nothing serious. A lot of what is on my plate I can't seem to decrease. And I know I internalize too much. I think the biggest change though has been my mother moving to assisted living here where I live. I have a loving supporting family. But I've been without a significant other for so long and I just don't have that someone to commiserate with. I am more sad now about being alone than I used to be. I have many friends and many social outlets.

Brief Answer:
I think you need formal support

Detailed Answer:
Hello,
Thanks for using Healthcaremagic.

I read your query with keen interest and feel that there is still dilemma about seeking help. I understand that this is small thing and you know the most probable cause for sad feeling but still it is better to have psychological support as far as possible.

Although it is possible to get good help from the OTCs such as 5 HTPn or ginkgo biloba but I think rather than medications you will feel better with little bit counseling in this difficult time.

The life changes are little amenable to medications and respond better to social and psychological support.

I hope this helps you.
If you have more questions feel free to write back to me.
Thanks and regards.

Thanks for your response. I was fairly sure OTC or prescribed medication would probably not be the answer. My sadness is situational. I had not really thought of counseling, except to get some medication, which again, that would not really solve my "situation" But to get counseling to talk about my issues would perhaps be beneficial and I will look into that. I know of several in my community. I raised 4 children on my own and they turned out so well. I am very blessed and have a lot to be thankful for. But this mood has been too persistent and I must do something about it. XXXX
