Question : Is it OK to take act Alin after going off of Levothyroxin because I want to treat thyroid naturally?
Brief Answer:
Actalin does not substitute levothyroxine.
Detailed Answer:
Hello,
First i would like to explain you that Actalin contains some supplements ( principally iodine) that support the function of the NORMAL thyroid.
Once the function of the thyroid is lowered it is not considered a normal thyroid but underactive or hypothyroidism. This pathology is chronic and irreversible.
So at this point you have to take the hormone ( levothyroxine) that the ''destroyed'' thyroid does not produce any more.
Actalin does not substitute levothyroxine once the diagnosis of hypothyroidism is confirmed.
So i would strongly recommend to restart the treatment with levothyroxine.
Hope i have been clear.
Kind regards,
Dr.Mirjeta
