Question : I need a prescription for acyclovir. I don't know if I need topical cream or pills or both. I have an outbreak on my chin on the right, and also on the edge of my left ear. I wear hearing aids, so I want the ear lesions gone ASAP. I work with the public in people's homes, so I want the chin outbreak to go away soon.

                                    Brief Answer:
Acyclovir
Detailed Answer:
Hello
Thanks for the query
First of all I strongly suggest not to take acyclovir without a prescription and examination by your GP.
Tab. ACYCLOVIR is often given 800mg three times a day. One has to drink plenty of water to prevent renal stones while on it. It is given for a duration of 7 days. It popularly comes as ZOVIRAX.
Acyclovir can be applied topical as well, it comes with combination of hydrocortisone. I has to be applied in the morning on a clean and dry surface
I hope I was of help, if you have any further queries please get back to me
regards

Will you give me a prescription for acyclovir? I expect to drink at least 8 oz of water every hour for the duration. I have no known allergies. I am otherwise in good health. I have had herpes for 45 years, and this is an extremely severe flare-up. I usually don't get a flare-up more often than once every 2 to 5 years, usually after a cold. I had a cold 2 weeks ago. Will you give me the prescription?

Hello
Thanks for getting back
Unfortunately this portal does not allow me to prescribe. I can only suggest or give second opinions. I am afraid you will have to visit a clinic for that.
