Question: Can allopurinol raise PSA levels
Brief Answer:
Information
Detailed Answer:
Hello,
I found this article that noted an increase of PSA released with allopurinol treatment, although the mechanism was not know.
Here is the article abstract: https://www.YYYYi.nlm.nih.YYY/YYYYYYY/0000
It says: "Hence, an increased release of PSA from the prostate gland was noted upon allopurinol treatment. The mechanism of the allopurinol-induced release is obscure."
Other than this one article, I could not find any other indication that allopurinol increases PSA.
