Question : I’m 64 years old I take XXXXXXX tan- hctz 100-12.5mg and amlodipine besylate 5 mg. I’m away from home and I just took my blood pressure and it was 178 / 88. Should I increase either dosage till I can get home to my doctor?

Hello,

Firstly, you need to be taking the BP reading frequently two to three times a day.

Yes, you should increase the dose of Amlodipine to 5 mg twice a day and keep track of BP-reading for hypotension (drop in blood pressure below the baseline ranges).

Also, please have a low salt diet.
