Question : 61 year old female took hydrocod/acetaminophen 325mg at 1400 yesterday and another 325 mg at 2100 last night. She took AMOXIK (875 mg) at 0400 this morning and has bad pounding headache, is experiencing some nausea. Took zolpidem 10mg about half hour ago to try to go to sleep. Do you think problem from drug interaction that warrants immediate attention?

Brief Answer:
headache is a concern

Detailed Answer:
Hello and thanks for your question.
I do not think she should take the zolpidem close to the hydrocodone but taking them that far apart should be okay.
The Amoxik may be the cause for the nausea. That is a commonn side effect of that drug.
My concern is about the headache and whether or not that is related to her eye problems.
Of course there are many causes of headache, but some of them are quite serious like stroke.
I think it would be best if she were evaluated by a physician as soon as possible. Please try to find someone to get her to a doctor or urgent care today.

Dr. Robinson
