Question : I am 63 yrs old and having HT for the past 3 years. I have been taking Atorva 10 mg to control cholestrol. Despite taking this, my total cholestrol is 218. Can I start taking Rozat 5 mg instead of Atorva

                                    Brief Answer:
Consider taking Rozat 10 mg for 3 months and repeat lipid profile
Detailed Answer:
Hello, I am Dr. Mody and I would be addressing your concern.
Rozat 5 mg is equivalent to the present dose of atorva 10 mg and will mit make a difference, if you wish to decrease the S. Cholesterol with medication you may consider taking Rozat 10 mg particularly even of your Ldl is higher than 130 mg / dl.
At the same time diet and lifestyle modification should be followed.
If you are taking a diuretic like hydrochlorthiazide as a medication for hypertension it per say can increase your lipids slightly, however the benefit is still higher than the side effect .

Sure , Wishing you good health
Detailed Answer:
Hello ,
The blood pressure medications you are taking are appropriate and if it's controlled well , there is no justification of making any change in the same .
Do take 10 mg of Rosuvastatin and after 3 months consider repeating the Lipids .
Omega 3 fatty acid capsules ( naturally 2- 3 servings of fatty fish per week ) , flax seeds would be appropriate supplements.
