Brief Answer:
I would not advise it.

Detailed Answer:
Even if you take the two medications at different times of the day, there is potential for significant interaction. Effexor can increase the level of Bupropion, increasing the risk of toxicity and seizures on it.

I would not advise taking both medications unless a psychiatrist has specifically recommended that you do so, and is monitoring you for potential side effects.

Sometimes doctors will have patients take two antidepressants when they are discontinuing one and starting another. At those times usually the dose of the one you are discontinuing is lower than usual, and the dose of the one you are starting is less too.

I would call your doctor to discuss why both medications.

You can also get information about medication interactions from the pharmacist where you get your prescriptions filled. Tell him or her the situation as they can help advise too.

I hope this information helps.
