Question: I have arthritis and also am on Plavix. I am currently taking Tylenol in morning and evening. Is there another medication I could take that would be more effective such as Celebrex. YYYY@YYYY

Brief Answer:
this also causes bleeding so cannot be combined

Detailed Answer:
HI, thanks for using healthcare magic

Because the plavix is associated with an increased risk of bleeding, care would have to be taken with any medication combined with it.

Celebrex belongs to the NSAID family of medications, all of these stop platelets from forming clumps and can therefore increase the risk of bleeding.

This means that it cannot be combined with plavix which also prevents platelets from clumping.

Medications such as codeine or tramadol may need to be considered, these are not associated with risk of bleeding but do have other side effects such drowsiness and possible constipation and nausea
If nausea occurs dramamine or pepto bismol can be used

I hope this helps, feel free to ask any other questions
