Posted on Mon, 17 Oct 2016
Question: We have been married for 19 years and my husband was deployed for 6 months. When he got home 5 days later I thought I had a uti and was diagnosed with clamydia. He insists he was faithful and it was me.( not possible). I've been having a lot of bacterial infections in the last year. Could that cause this?

Brief Answer:
Get your husband tested too.

Detailed Answer:
Hello,
Thanks for trusting us with your health concern.
Chlamydia infection is transmitted only sexually. If your test came positive for chlamydia then it has been transmitted by your husband if you had not this infection earlier. Chlamydia is spread from person-to-person during unprotected sex. It can be passed through vaginal, anal, and oral sex. It can also be passed to the eye by a hand or other body part moistened with infected secretions.
You can get your husband tested for chlamydia to know for sure. The infection can remain dormant- asymptomatic in males for many weeks.
Please feel free to discuss further. I will be glad to answer the follow up queries that you have.
Wishing you good health.
