default
Posted on Mon, 15 Jun 2015
Question: I took Dayquil and 20 minutes later I took Zofran, I looked at drug interaction websites and it says it is a major problem because it could induce a rare disease called Serotonin Syndrome. So far I am experiencing none of the symptoms but I'm very concerned

Brief Answer:
Dont worry, it is very rare

Detailed Answer:
Hello.
Welcome to HCM.
This is Dr. Swarnava Dattagupta answering your query.

I understand your concern.
Dayquil and zofran normally dont have major drug interactions. Yes, serotonin syndrome is documented to occur but it is very very rare.
Serotonin syndrome can have symptoms like nausea, vomiting, increased pulse and blood pressure, tremor, seizure, fever etc but incidence is very rare. I would suggest you to stay alert and look for symptoms, but alongwith i can say that chances of its occurrence is very unlikely. So dont worry, relax.

Hope this helps.
