Question : Hi Doctor.
I just came back from a consultation with a physician regarding my condition which is laryngitis or maybe an inflammation on the larynx. He has advised me to take Defcort 6mg and steam inhalation and give my voice box a complete shutdown. No talking he says.What do i do? What is defcort?

I have read your query and understand the concern.

Since you have already been diagnosed as a larynx, then you should continue the same treatment prescribed by your physician.

Defcort (deflazocort 6 mg) is a steroid which is a strong antinflammatory drug. It will help to reduce inflammation in larynx.

Voice rest will be helpful to prevent further inflammation as laryngitis is likely associated with vocal cord swelling.

Continue with steam inhalation 3 to 4 times daily with warm salt water gargles which would also be helpful to get rid of inflammation.

Also, let me know if you have symptoms like fever or throat pain.
