Question : can efudex cause a flair up of ulcerative colitis.... in a pt with ulcerative colitis in long term remission on humira?

Hi and thank you for asking on HCM!
I read carefully all your concerns and I can say as follows:
1. You are reporting to have been used efudex and after that you started getting UC flair.
Efudex has some Gastrointestinal side effects like oral ulcers, stomatitis, bloody diarrhea etc.
2. This is why to my opinion your symptoms may be related with :
- efudex side effects like diarrhea
- Flair up of UC due to efudex use.

3. With regards to the last question of yours I can say that there is no known relation between a localized inflammatory reaction and flair Up of Ulcerative colitis.
But an localised inflamatory reaction may be an extra intestinal sign of UC since UC is an autoimmune disease.
