Can Fluvoxamine, Abilify And Lamictal Intake Affect One's HCG Level?

Question : Is my psychiatrist correct in saying that my medications (fluvoxamine, ability and especially lamictal) can effect hCG levels, causing me to have false negative blood and urine pregnancy tests when I, in face could actually be pregnant? I am also overweight, could this contribute to a false negative? I am nearly 2 weeks late for my period and have sore, swollen breasts for the first time ever as well as cramping in my lower back and abdomen, nausea and headaches. I suspect I am approx. 4 weeks along. Please help!

Hello,

I read your query and understand your concerns.

Despite the use of above medications (fluvoxamine, abilify, lamictal) if your urine and blood tests are negative for pregnancy I do not think you are pregnant. The medications affect the level of HCG to some extent but not able to cause false negative tests after a certain period (two weeks after conception).


Considering this fact I can state that your psychiatrist is partially correct but not completely correct.
