Question : I had visited a massage parlor two months back. The lady in the parlor massaged me and touched the tip of my penis. She also rubbed her vagina at the back of my penis. I did not have insertive anal or vaginal intercourse.
I had also fingered her.
1) Do I pose any risk of hiv or STD due to rubbing of vagina
2) After 11 days of incident I had done a rapid screening test for hiv1 and hiv2. Both of them came non reactive.Do I need to do any more test.

Brief Answer:

You are likely to be free from STD. HIV risk is negligible.

Detailed Answer:

Hi,

First of all, that lady not necessarily has HIV/STD as she also would be aware of the risk involved and would care about her health too. If it is so, there is no risk for you at all.

You had fingering and genital rubbing without any penetrative sex. As per CDC, XXXXXXX USA, your activities carry a negligible risk for HIV.

It has been two months since you had these activities and have no lesion over finger ruled out the possibility of STD.

1. STD on the rubbing of the vagina is almost 'nil' unless that individual had any obvious lesions over her external genitals or abnormal excessive discharge seen outside her genitals.

2. Regarding your nonreactive tests for HIV (RAPID test) at 11 days after the risk activities cannot be taken as conclusive as you are still in HIV window period during which period, antibodies against HIV cannot be detected even in presence of an infection as the body takes time to produce antibodies against any infection.

The test will be considered more conclusive 12 weeks after the incident.

A nonreactive test 12 weeks after the risk activity will be sure to relieve the concern completely.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care

Thanks Dr. XXXXXXX So can I rule out the possibility of any STD or hiv and move on with life. As you said it is a negligible risk, so shall I go for any further testing.

Brief Answer:

Rule out negligible risk with another test. Till then protected sex advised

Detailed Answer:

Hi,

Negligible risk cannot be considered as "nil' risk.

As you had fingering, it is better to have one more test 12 weeks after that incident and rule out the remote possibility of HIV beyond any doubt and you can feel relaxed and resume your normal sexual activities with your wife.

Till then abstinence or protected sex is suggested.

Hope I have answered your query.

Take care
