Can HIV Be Contracted Through Oral Sex?

Question: I received oral sex without a condom...I have no cuts or abrasions on my penis...also the girls mouth looked ok from what I can tell...also I text and she said she was clean and not to worry...but I still worry about the hiv virus how risky is it to get when a women gives me oral...I been looking online it says very low risk so I am hoping I am fine and don't have to stress...I will go to clinic and get tested for everything...I also have doxycycline for malaria when I travel...I hear that can be used for stds...is this true...is so can I start taking now...

I have gone through your query. Risk of hiv is very low while receiving oral sex. If the girl is having sore throat or gingivitis then there is risk.
You can get a hiv duo test for her which will be more accurate in earlier time. You can go for HIV Duo test after 28 days from exposure. This is for assurance. You don't need to worry if the sexual history of girl is with out problems.

No need to take doxycycline with out any symptoms of STD. STDs like chlamydia, syphilis and gonorrhoea doxycycline is effective.

Thank you sir I feel more relieved...I will get a test on Feb 11th when I go back to Dubai and I had the oral sex on 29 XXXXXXX ..hope that is enough time to tell something...if not I go in May for my yearly medical for my job and they check everything...also if I feel an std coming how much doxycycline per day should I take...so again a doctor point of view I should be good and not be affected with hiv...that's the main thing...so hope I can sleep...thanks so much as much info will help so I can be sure

Doxycycline given for STDs is twice daily for 1 week. As I told you before regarding hiv you are in a least risk group. Once 28 days are over after exposure you can get a hiv duo test which includes antigen as well as antibody test. That will give you assurance. You don't need to worry.

Thanks that helps give me a piece of mind now...also I will have to get on 12 Feb in Dubai before I go back to work in Afghanistan..I am hoping 12 Feb isn't too soon it will be only 15 days from exposure. When I go back to Afghanistan I won't have medical stuff there to get check...I will get vacation May 10th and through my work they give us yearly physical I will take May 9th..by then I can get checked and should be more accurate by then right...anyhow I think I can stop worrying so much now cause your help...thanks doctor...

After 15 days you can do antigen test for HIV. But the test is not so accurate at this time period. If you are doing it at this time you have to repeat it again after the proper time interval to get an accurate result.

So you can do any of these. Just check on may or do an antigen test after 15 days of exposure and do a Duo test on may again. Doing on may will give accurate results.
