Can HIV Be Contracted Through Protected Sex?

Please help me on this.
When used correctly, condom is highly effective in preventing STDs.
Detailed Answer:
Dear XXXXXXX Hi
I can understand your concern.
A condom acts as a barrier to keep blood, or semen, or vaginal fluids from passing from one person to the other during intercourse. These fluids can transmit germs such as HIV.
If no condom is used, the germs can pass from the infected partner to the uninfected partner.
When used consistently and correctly (UNBROKEN TILL THE SEXUAL ACT IS OVER) condoms are highly effective in preventing HIV and other sexually transmitted diseases (STDs). Using a condom can greatly reduce, but NOT ENTIRELY eliminate the risk of HIV and STD transmission.
As per Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, consistent use of condoms reduces the risk of getting or transmitting HIV by about 80%.
Abstinence (avoiding all vaginal, anal and oral sex) is the only method to completely eliminate the possibility of sexual transmission of HIV or STDs.
Another way of protecting your self is having a long-term mutual relationship with an uninfected partner (for example wife).
Prevention is better than cure.
Hope this answers your query.
Take care.

Thanks for your reply. I just want to know that when i check whether i have been affected with this? Is there a way where i can check and take some medicines as early as possible to get rid of this?
The HIV tests will be accurate only after 4-6 weeks of exposure.
Detailed Answer:
Dear XXXXXXX Hi
Thanks for your reply.
Because of the "window period" most of the tests for HIV will be accurate only after 4-8 weeks following exposure (suspected infection).
The window period is the time between potential exposure to HIV infection and the point when the tests will give an accurate result.
During the window period a person can be infected with HIV and infectious but have a negative HIV test.
The window period for antibody tests can be between 4-6 weeks.
Other tests such as RNA tests show a positive result 1-3 weeks after the infection and based on the presence of the virus. These tests are more expensive than anitbody tests, so are not offered in as many places.
Polymerase chain reaction test (test for the actual virus) will be positive 2-3 weeks of after infection.
Regarding the use of medicines following suspected infection (post exposure prevention), drugs like Zidovudine with Lamivudine are prescribed for a period of 28 days by the physicians who are specialized in infectious diseases.
To be most effective this treatment should be started within 72 hours following exposure that has the potential for HIV transmission.
Hope this answers your query.
Best regards.

Could you please suggest me a place in XXXXXXX where i can go for the treatment done within 72 hours. I had this intercourse day before yesterday only.

Patch is suspected to be ringworm infection.
Detailed Answer:
Dear XXXXXXX Hi
Thanks for your reply, gone through the contents and the uploaded picture.
The patch seems to be due to ringworm (fungal) infection which can be treated by Antifungal creams such as Clotrimazole or Terbinafine.
Regarding the post exposure prophylaxis you may consult any dermatologist or physician in your town who is specialized in sexually transmitted diseases like HIV.
The most common side effects include headache, nausea or diarrhea, allergic reaction, cough, changes in the shape of body fat (especially in your arms, legs, face, neck, breasts, and trunk).
Other side effects are signs of a new infection such as fever, chills, body aches, flu symptoms, sores in your mouth and throat, easy bruising, etc.
Hope this answers your query.
Best regards.
