Brief Answer:
No need for post exposure prophylaxis (PEP)

Detailed Answer:
Hello. Thank you for writing to us

I am dr.kakkar (dermatologist). I have gone through your query and I have noted your concern.

Unprotected receptive oral sex carries negligible risk of HIV and is not considered a high risk exposure requiring prophylaxis i.e PEP and a condom protected vaginal sex is safe and provides adequate protection against HIV transmission.
So I don't there is a need for Post expsoure prophylaxis (PEP) in your case.

Brief Answer:
You have a negligible risk and do not qualify for PEP

Detailed Answer:
Hi.

There is practically no risk of transmission through such a short oral contact.

Post exposure prophylaxis (PEP) is for those who have already been exposed to HIV risk and it should be started within 72 hours of expsoure if there is a sufficient risk of HIV infection. Therefore, it is for somebody who has already had a risky exposure e.g either unprotected sexual exposure with an HIV infected individual or professional exposure (e.g needle stick injury with HIV infected patient blood).

PreEP is for those who are yet to be exposed to HIV risk.

Brief Answer:
Negligible risk from oral sex but testing would relieve your anxiety

Detailed Answer:
Hello.

As I said, receptive oral sex carries a very low risk i.e the odds are very low. I cant put an exact number to it because the risk from oral sex alone has not been estimated. This is because people who practice oral sex also practice other forms of sexual contacts e.g vaginal or anal sex during the same sexual encounter.
However, there is no harm in getting screened. Most likely it would turn out as negative and it would relieve your anxiety.
You may directly go to a lab to get screened for STDs including HIV. There is no need for a referral from doctor for HIv screening.
