Brief Answer:
both types of medications work well in Afro americans

Detailed Answer:
HI, thanks for using healthcare magic

Hydrochlorothiazide is a diuretic and would therefore get rid of excess salt and fluids. The reduced fluid and salt help to decrease blood pressure.
Afro americans are thought to be salt sensitive, this means that they would respond to changes in salt levels.

This is the reason that diuretics would be effective here.

Felodopine is a calcium channel blocker that would reduce calcium entry into blood vessels and cause them to relax, therefore also causing a reduced blood pressure.
Calcium channel blockers have also be shown to effective in the Afro XXXXXXX population.

The combination of a diuretic and calcium channel blocker is not uncommon.

Drugs of different mechanisms of actions are combined so that they can have an additive effect on reducing blood pressure.

I hope this helps, feel free to ask any other questions

Brief Answer:
headache is a possible side effect of felodipine

Detailed Answer:
HI

Headache is a possible side effect of the felodipine. If the headache and other symptoms are intolerable then you should speak to your doctor about a change in medication.

You may be able to tolerate an alternative better
