Brief Answer:
May be related to infection.

Detailed Answer:

Hi,

Many women have abdominal cramps during period. If cramps begin a few days before period and subsides by 2nd or 3rd day of period, then most likely it is normal. However repeated scans revealed PID - pelvic inflammatory disease. In that case, perhaps the cause of her pain could be related to infection.

For now, in my opinion it is important to treat infection if any is still localized before considering conceiving. Continue antibiotics as suggested. Check if your partner is carrying an infection which is spreading through unprotected intercourse. If yes, he should also be simultaneously treated.

Hope this answers your question. Let me know if you need clarifications.
