Question : My baby girl is 2 years and 1 month old, weighing 14 kg. She came in contact with a child who already had a fever at a party last night. Since this morning, she has had a slight runny nose, but at night she suddenly woke up crying due to throat choking—possibly from soreness or postnasal drip.

I only have Maxtra syrup at home. Can I give her 3 ml of Maxtra Syrup for relief? Is this dosage safe for her age and weight?

Brief Answer:
Maxtra is right

Detailed Answer:
Thanks for asking on ask a doctor.

I can assure you that your child's running nose is not related to the exposure last night as there is an incubation period involved.

Giving Maxtra 3 ml thrice daily for the next 3-5 days would be good. The dose would be right for her. Also give steam inhalation.
