Question: I had sometimes very less frequent delayed period. I've given birth of a male child 8 and half years back. For sudden emotions I had to take i-pill 5times during 2and half years period. since last 6and half months tiny cysts developed in both the ovaries, when last USG done 10days back, the dimensions of cysts are 1.3cm in both the ovaries. In last two months period has become advanced by 4-5days, this month 1st 2days the period is very less and viscosity is high, after that normal period. This is the 3rd day today now. I had taken i-pill just 2days before period started last time. Is it something to be worried of?........ XXXXXXX Kolkata-31

Brief Answer: try oral contraceptive pills. Detailed Answer: Dear XXXXXXX Thanks for writing. The ipill in the last 2 yrs don't effect the menstrual cycles now. Regarding advanced and what you mentioned as scanty flow on 1st 2 days which is called premenstrual spotting, is common in some women. the cysts which you mentioned may be normal follicles as each ovary around the time of ovulation has 1.5-2 cm follicle. Please refrain from using ipill often as it is high dose progesterone and can cause irregular cycles. You can consider using effective birthcontrol pills like loette or ovral -l after due examination by a gynecologist. It will regularise your cycles and also decrease the cysts if any. Please write back with reports if you have any more doubts. Thanks Dr Bhagyashree

Thanks a lot M'm, As per the reports of the concerned USG, cysts were written. I'm sorry M'm, not to submit the scanned report copy & USG image now, but definitely I'll submit on 17.03.14. In the medical history, I also have to mention that pancreas has been stated as heterogeneous for the 1st time, in the last USG done 10days before. Thanking you, M'm, once again. Regards XXXXXXX

Brief Answer: cysts are not huge. so will reduce spontaneously Detailed Answer: Dear XXXXXXX Thanks for writing. As the cyst size you have mentioned is small there is no need to worry. Cyst upto 5-6 cm are normal in women and these disappear spontaneously brevity contraception pills. If your physician has examined you and not found any specific problem regarding your pancreas then I think we can wait and watch. Thanks. Dr Bhagyashree
