Question : I have been treated for recent (1 month) paroxysmal afib. I am taking flecainide and klonopin to help me sleep. I have been a poor sleeper for decades, but especially during this period. On my doctor's advice I bought a home ECG monitor (Kardia). I have been having supraventricular ectopic readings all day. It seems to be almost constant between readings, except for a few normal runs. Is this cause for any immediate concern?

Please refer to the detailed answer below

Detailed Answer:
Hello,

After going through the medical query raised by you I can understand your concern and I would like to tell you that yes frequent supraventricular activity can be a triggering an underlying factor for paroxysmal AF.

It’s advisable that you should get the following tests done by taking an appointment with the cardiologist.

1. Complete blood profile
2. Kidney function test with serum electrolytes
3. Thyroid function test
4. Holter monitoring
5. Echocardiogram

These tests will give a better understanding of the underlying issues and guide us towards further plans.

Kind Regards
