Can Lidocaine And Voltaren Be Taken For Nack And Back Pain?

Question: Can I ask you from your experience do the following have good success rate for necl and back pain?
Lidocaine pain patches
Voltaren gel
I have a bad neck with spurring and also low back with facet issues
I have a friend who says the above help him. I want to ask my doc about it...but Id like to know what you say. Pain pills tend to upset gut, and so Im looking for some other relief. He also takes Tramadol. I take massages.

I read your question carefully and I understand your concern.

They have some effect but a moderate one, if the pain is severe they won't be enough, they are not as effective as Voltaren by mouth. On the other hand rate of side effects is much lower so you can try it, either alone if the pain is not severe or alongside other pain medication like Tramadol or other medication in the voltaren group like Ibuprofen, naproxen etc (slightly fewer side effects then voltaren).

Physical therapy is the mainstay of management though, gels, patches, tramadol etc only alleviate the symptoms temporarily. So do not underestimate physical therapy which includes exercises to stretch your muscles and strengthen your core.
