Brief Answer:
Follow below given instructions, consultation with doctor is preferable.

Detailed Answer:
Hi XXXXXXX

I can understand your concern and apprehension. Many ladies like you have such concern.

Better to use any medicine after consulting doctor personally because if any side effect occurs, your doctor can help you.
As you have not used in passed, you should consult doctor once for prescription.

It should be used about 10-15 minutes prior to intercourse. If you are using gel, apply a thin layer of lignocaine over inner one third of vagina(roughly 3 inches from vaginal opening). Spread it to evenly distribute.
If you are using liquid, soak a cotton ball in it. Then insert the cotton ball into the opening of your vagina for several minutes or until numb.

Important instructions: never apply it over damaged skin(vaginal mucosa), infected skin or if you are allergic to it.
To check you are allergic to lignocaine or not you have to apply(1-2 drops) small amount before and have to wait for 1-2 hours. Preferably you should consult doctor to check this. In some cases, lignocaine gel can cause effects on heart and nervous system and can cause vasovagal shock if absorbed into blood directly.

There are chances that you may not feel sexual excitement or orgasm in optimum manner due to anesthetic effects and lack of sensation.

(Just for your information: You may tolerate first time pain with proper counselling and understanding the method of relaxation during sex by a Psychiatrist/Qualified sexologist. If you wish you can consult the doctor for the same. After that if you feel that you still need lignocaine, you can use as per doctor's advice.)

Hope I have answered your query, I will be happy to answer more if still more queries.

Regards,
Dr.Chintan Solanki.
