Can Lisinopril And Atorvastatin Be Taken With Acetaminophen?

default
Posted on Thu, 4 Jan 2024
Question: Hi:
I take doctor prescribed Lisinopril 2.5 mg and Atorvastatin Ca 20 mg once daily. Gout flared up a week ago & is still inflamed. A PA looked at my knee (constant pain for four months) two weeks ago, sent me for x-rays, and diagnosed arthritis. Prescribed nothing. Have not heard back from Dr. or x-ray lab. I have some Acetaminophen Cod #3 left from a previous short term attack of gout (two years ago). Can I temporarily stop the first two, switch to the gout med to get it controlled? The first time (last time) this occurred, it was three pills and done. I don't drink. Have taken 81 mg aspirin, regularly as a preventative. Do not have high blood pressure, nor heart problems. Had a physical in past thirty days. My spouse is a 76-years-old female with severe dementia, so I keep active taking care of our house on a half-acre .

Brief Answer:

Can be used together, no interactions

Detailed Answer:

Hi,

You don't need to stop the Lisinopril and Atorvastatin because there is no interaction between these medications and acetaminophen/codeine.

They can be used safely together.

If you have anti inflammatory medications and can use these, they would be a better option for pain management.

They are the recommended pain meds for gouty arthritis eg naproxen, Indomethacin, Ibuprofen.

Your doctors may also want to consider giving you medication to lower your uric acid levels.

Hope I have answered your query.

Take care
