Brief Answer:
livalo can also be used to reduce cholesterol

Detailed Answer:
HI, thanks for using healthcare magic

Simvastatin can be associated with an itching and rash in some persons who use it so it is possible that it may be related.

Other possible causes of itching are: (1) contact dermatitis- reaction to cream/lotion/ detergent etc

(2)thyroid disease- abnormal levels of thyroid hormone can cause itching

(3)liver or kidney disease

(4)allergies to other foods/drinks, allergies to medication

(5)infection such as scabies, lice

IF there has been no change in lotions/creams/soaps/detergents, no evidence of infection or no evidence of thyroid/kidney/liver disease, then reaction to the simvastatin is the likely cause.

Livalo can be used instead of simvastatin. It is the trade name for the drug pitavastatin

It can also help reduce cholesterol, it is in the same family as simvastatin but because they all work and break down a little differently, it may not cause the same problem.

I hope this helps, feel free to ask any other questions
