Brief Answer:
No harm

Detailed Answer:
Dear XXXX,

At the outset let me congratulate you for your wife's pregnancy which has been confirmed by pregnancy test on the urine.

As per the calculations based on her date of last menstrual period (LMP) 12/08/2016, now she is almost 8 weeks pregnant. She has been prescribed Macgest 200 pills. These pills are natural micronized progesterone pills. Progestational support during early phase in pregnancy helps stabilizing the pregnancy if there is any risk to the pregnancy due to progesterone deficiency. Therefore it is used in high risk cases like recurrent abortions, Threatened abortion, pregnancy by Artificial Reproductory technique, etc. It does not caused any harm to the pregnancy.

However, why is she prescribed Progestational compound? Is there any symptom or ultrasonography finding which is indicating any risk to het pregnancy? Is this her first pregnancy or she had any previous pregnancy(ies) successful or unsuccessful?

Based on this information, I will give you advice whether she should take this pills or she may skip them. However, please make her take Tab. Folic Acid 5 mg daily which will help healthy implantation (which phase is now over) and healthy growth of the placenta and baby.

Please furnish me with the requested information so that I can advice you appropriately. Please update the reports and the images if you have.

If you want any further information of advice, I am always available for you, XXXX. You may consider posting a good review with 5 star rating for me.

Brief Answer:
Please do not delay ultrasonography

Detailed Answer:
Dear XXXX,

Prega news kit is a home pregnancy test on urine which is quite reliable. So her pregnancy was confirmed by this test.

She is having lower right abdominal pain. This could be the reason to start Macgest. However, with such a pain, I would advise you to get ultrasonography done ASAP to look for the safety, normalcy and integrity of the pregnancy. Please do not wait for two more weeks. If any impending risk to the pregnancy is located, then it can be managed in time. Till the diagnosis is clinched, Macgest may prove to be useful in supporting the pregnancy. However, please do not delay USG.

There is no risk in taking Macgest; howeverI cannot opine on whether it is necessary or not till I see the reports and the USG images & reports. Please upload them.

To get her relief from the acidity, please modify her diet. Give her bland diet which may be supported with some antacids like Gellucil; however, Pantoprazole group of the medicines should be avoided during early pregnancy as they may cause abnormalities in the baby. Avoid spicy and oily food items in her diet.

Please feel free to ask me for any more information and/or advice.

Dr advice rabifan dsr for my wife acidity..is it safe for her early pregnancy?

Brief Answer:
Category B medicine : Safer in human pregnant mothers

Detailed Answer:
Dear XXXX

Rabifan is a proton pump inhibitor which controls the stomach acidity. It contains Rabiprazole. According to FDA categorization, Rabiprazole is category B medicine; meaning thereby that animal studies have failed to demonstrate the risk to the foetus and appropriate studies on the pregnant human woman are lacking.

Therefore, she can safely take Rabifan to control her acidity. I feel, this symptom will go away after she completes her 3 calendar months of pregnancy. This medicine gives best results when taken in the morning on empty stomach, after which for one hour, nothing is taken by mouth. Avoid any other medicine (except those required for maintenance of pregnancy) during these first 3 months of pregnancy to minimize the symptoms of acidity.

Her blood pressure is on lower side. Please give her Electral. Her weight is on lower side; however that can be managed after 3 months of pregnancy when her nausea and vomiting would have stopped.

Have you submitted her for ultrasonography? Please upload all her reports.

I am always available for you, XXXX for any medical advice for you.

Brief Answer:
Intrauterine pregnancy

Detailed Answer:
Dear XXXX,

Thank you for uploading the reports and image. I have gone through all of them. They all seem to be within normal range. You have been advised to get blood investigations done which you have not done as yet. Please get it done along with urine examination.

She is having intrauterine normal pregnancy corresponding to the age of gestation. So there seems to be no reason for you to worry. Just continue with Folic acid tablets till she finishes her 3 calendar months. Later, the Iron, Calcium, Multivitamin tablets will be added.

Please take her for ante natal check up every month and whenever
her Obstetrician advises her.

For any more information, I am available for you, XXXX.

Brief Answer:
All these + few more investigations needed

Detailed Answer:
Dear XXXX,

Leg pains during pregnancy can occur mainly due to anaemia, calcium deficiency, diabetes, progesterone effect resulting in muscle flabbiness, etc. Investigations will reveal the cause.

Please get the advised investigations done; however, I would advise you to get complete haemogramme done instead of only Hb% for the first time; then subsequently, only Hb will do. In addition, please get her Blood groups (ABO & Rh) typed. Urine routine examination should be a part of her every ante natal check up.

After viewing these reports, I might advise you some more if needed. So please upload all the reports.
