Can Medrol Be Taken In Place Of Ibuprofen While Having Arthritis?

default
Posted on Mon, 26 Dec 2016
Question: I am having a flare up of arthritis after a five year period without pain. I took an ibuprofen tablet last night and woke up nearly pain free this morning. That was good! A friend suggested Medrol as a possible supplement to the ibuprofen, but after reading the literature I'm not sure it would be beneficial. What say you?

Brief Answer:
I would not suggest.

Detailed Answer:
Hi Dear user ! Thank you for posting your question here .I read your concern carefully and I understand.
I think that you should not start with Medrol.

It's not the first choice for your condition , Medrol is a Steroid drug and yes has a lot of side effect when you take oral , you can not start by yourself you should discuss with your treating doctor about the dosage and period of time and in the end to stop the drug you need to stop carefully( cause it effects your corticosurenal glandules ).

If I were you treating doctor I would advice to take NSAID ( non steroidal inflammator ) .
Try first acetaminophen (Paracetamol, Tylenol)500mg every 4-6hours
if it does not work keep with Ibuprofen 400 mg every 4-6 hours if does not work Increase to 600 600mg every 4 hours .
-the third choice would be Naproxen :500mg-750mg once a day.

Hope it was helpful.
If you have any other questions I will be happy to help.
Take Care !
