Brief Answer:
Can be used, but caution is needed.

Detailed Answer:
I read your question carefully and I understand your concern.

Mobic is a brand name for the drug called Meloxicam. Meloxicam is a member of the NSAID class (non steroid anti inflammatory drugs). All these drugs are used to treat arthritis related pain, but their use is much more widespread, they are used for most types of pain, headache included. NSAIDs are among the most used for the medication of migraine attacks as well. So you shouldn't be afraid that it's not used for that purpose, it is.

As for whether it is a good thing you should keep in mind the risk of side effects. At your age frequent NSAID use does have some risks. They increase the risk of stomach ulcer, high blood pressure, kidney and heart issues. That won't necessarily be your case but if your age is 78 as you state you should keep that in mind especially if the need arises frequently (it should be ok to be used only once or twice a week).

I remain at your disposal for other questions.
