Question : I just had a CAT Scan with Contrast I was told that I can not take my Metfornin this evening, When would be the best time for me to take the Metformin tomorrow morning?
Brief Answer:
48 hours after the procedure
Detailed Answer:
Hello,
Metformin has to be withheld for 48 hours provided that the patient has not developed acute renal failure. In case of acute renal failure metformin has to be stopped completely. I mentioned acute renal failure because it's one of the most feared consequences of using contrast media in patients with diabetes and it affects the risk for side effects from metformin.
I hope it helps!
Kind Regards!
