Brief Answer:
Most commonly, worsening of dementia.

Detailed Answer:
Hello and thanks for using HealthcareMagic.

I have gone through your question and understand your concerns.

The most common disadvantage of stopping Memantine (Namenda) is a significantly lower level of functioning, or, in other words, worsening of dementia.

Other unexpected withdrawal symptoms also may occur if it is stopped suddenly.

Please discuss with your husband's Doctor when you decide to stop or start a new drug.

Hope you found the answer helpful. Let me know if I could help Further.

Take care.
