Question : I have bad wear and tear on both knees and I am taking Naproxen and Gabepentin together. Is this safe? Is there a stronger pill I can take? I feel like a cripple at the moment as the pain is so terrible.

Naproxen is a nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drug (NSAID). It works by reducing hormones that cause inflammation and pain in the body. Naproxen can increase your risk of fatal heart attack or stroke, especially if you use it long term or take high doses, or if you have heart disease. Do not use this medicine just before or after heart bypass surgery (coronary artery bypass graft, or CABG).
Gabapentin affects chemicals and nerves in the body that are involved in the cause of seizures and some types of pain. Gabapentin is used in adults to treat nerve pain caused by herpes virus or shingles etc. Commonly reported side effects of gabapentin include ataxia, nystagmus, dizziness, drowsiness, sedation, fever, fatigue, and viral infection.
Hence from the above explanation, it is clear that gabapentin is not the drug of choice for joint pains. Instead i recommend tab.valdecoxib 90mg, a safer and more effective drug to manage joint pains.
