Question : will neosporin treat a whitlow on a finger?nothing yet -my 12 year old son just showed me an infected/painful finger... no other lesion, just swelling and discoloration... I recall using soframycin as a kid on one that I had - I only have nesoporin with me
Brief Answer:
it depends
Detailed Answer:
Hi and welcome.
If this is caused by herpes infection only then neosporin wont help but it will prevent bacterial infection so you can use it. Also, it is advisable to soak finger in warm salty water and apply magensium sulphate paste or aciclovir topical agents. If nothing helps you should see doctor and get oral medications. Wish you good health. Regards
