Question : Hi Doctor,
My daughter is approx 11 weeks old.
Someone in family has recommended to give syrup Phenergan (Promethazine syrup I.P.) to her for her colic issues. Is it a safe medicine to give it to her? Please suggest.

Please do not give - not safe in this age

Detailed Answer:
Hi.... please do not give promethazine in this age. It is not licensed and safety standards have not been established.

Moreover this is a prescription drug and should not be used as an over the counter medication.

Actually less than 2 years it is contraindicated.
