About medications that cause weight loss;
Detailed Answer:
Hello,
I have gone through your concern carefully.
Yes, Progesterone may cause fluid retention and weight gain, so probably the weight has gone worse because of it.
Adderall usually causes weight loss.
Regarding thyroid, I would not recommend starting treatment with that TSH level.
Taking thyroid hormones when their level is normal, may cause increase In thyroid hormone level and fictitious hyperthyroidism, which may be hazardous in these ages.
I know that losing weight naturally (diet and physical activity) is difficult because at this age the metabolism gets slower and needs lots of work, but it's the best way to loose weight.
I would not recommend any of the above-mentioned medications to loose weight.
Hope the information will help.
Let me know if I can assist you further.
Kind regards,
Dr.Mirjeta

Obesity treatment medications;
Detailed Answer:
Welcome back,
There are some medications approved by FDA for the treatment of obesity.
Orlistat and liraglutide may be more suitable for your age and may cause 5% loss of weight for a 6 months period.
Amphetamines may have side effects such as insomnia, irritability, fast heart rate etc. that are not seen with orlistat or liraglutide.
I would recommend discussing with your treating physician for a prescription of one of them and to be taken under strict medical supervision only.
Wish you good health.
Kind regards,
Dr.Mirjeta
You are not a candidate for weight loss medications
Detailed Answer:
Hi again,
Weight loss medications are considered for people with BMI over 30.
As per your description, your BMI is only 23 which is pretty normal.
So, it is not your case.
My advice would be not to take medications but try a healthy diet and physical activity (as already mentioned) to keep maintaining a normal weight.
Regards,
Dr.Mirjeta
